Rules: Nonograms (also known as Picross, Paint by Numbers, Griddlers, Japanese Crosswords, Hanjie and various other names) are puzzles containing a grid which is made-up of square-shaped cells, in which each cell is either filled-in with a block, or is blank/empty, such that the entire grid matches a specific pattern, in accordance with the numbers beside the edges of the grid (called "edge-numbers").
Each set of edge-numbers describes how the cells in the adjacent row or column are either blocks or empty. For each edge-number in a particular set, there must exist a "run" of consecutive blocks whose length equals the edge-number. Block-runs must be separated by at least one empty cell, and the block-runs must occur in the order specified by the set of edge-numbers for that particular row or column.
To solve the puzzle, keep inserting blocks until the pattern in every row and column matches with the corresponding set of edge-numbers.
To illustrate, below are two images of the same (15x15) Nonogram puzzle. The left image shows the puzzle in its initial completely empty state, and the right image shows the puzzle when solved:
While working on a puzzle, in order to help yourself keep track, you have the option to insert red X-shaped crosses in cells which you think must not contain blocks.
Mouse controls: - To insert or remove a block in a particular cell, left-click inside the cell.
- To insert or remove a red X-shaped cross in a particular cell, right-click inside the cell.
- You can insert/remove several blocks/crosses at once by dragging with your mouse in the grid.
